Pilates

Pilates uses very simple equipment such as mats, resistance bands, small round weights and gym balls.

To get the most out of your Pilates workout you want to invest in all three of these items. The good thing about these items is that the costs are low.

Mats - You want something that’s comfy to practice your workout on, as sitting on the floor for prolonged periods of time can become uncomfortable.

Resistance Bands
- These bands come in varying strengths from light to heavy resistance. Buying a pack which contains 2 or 3 bands is best as it allows you to swap about.

Round Weights - These weights vary from around 1 - 3kg and are great for adding an extra challenge to your Pilates workout.

Gym Balls - These large balls are great for enhancing your balance. They come in varying sizes usually from around 50cm - 70cm.

Yoga

Much like Pilates, Yoga is an exercise for building core muscles through slow movements. The only things you will need for a Yoga workout are Yoga bricks and belts.

With both bits of equipment go for good quality items. With the bricks you will have a choice of wood or foam, if you are a beginner then foam is more ideal as its generally softer and less likely to cause discomfort.

With the belts the only think you need to check is the length, It must be long enough to circle your feet and lower back when in a seated position.
