The watch has some good features

The watch has some good features - the log is great, though the coach hasn't been much use so far. The belt is very comfortable too. If only the watch didn't look like a prize from a Christmas cracker! Good job I bought it for it's functions and not its looks.

I bought the Suunto T4C after MUCH research on other models. All in all a better product for your dollar in comparison....but: 1. The instruction manual is a joke and you guys at Suunto really need to consider re-issuing it somehow (online?). Write it, give the watch to the average person in the street and see if they can use it straight away. The way things are at the moment - NO WAY! (I've had the unit for 2 weeks and still am confused.) 2. Modes and on screen description from the manual are all but useless. I find myself saying "What is it telling me now!" all to often as no detailed instruction is given. Eg; The arrow tells you tell work harder or less." Which arrow? This one, that one or the other arrow???!!! 3. I look forward to working it out as I think it is a great product, no thanks to Suunto for the assistance, only the product. 4. When I do make a mistake and start something by accident, how the hell do I erase that information that is stored by accident???!!!!! Again, poor instructions! Great product, woeful guidance.

i found this watch to be great

i found this watch to be great. while some people have said it had a poor manual i do not see the same complant. it is mearly that you need to memorize alot of tasks. but i think this is ok. what more could you ask for? so far my coach doesnt know me to well. it tells me to rest for a week but clearly i will not. so i figured it takes a while to know your strengths

Not been impressed by the T4c I

Not been impressed by the T4c I'm afraid. Manual is very poor, a few screenshots would really help, at one point having read the manual about 4 times, I nearly threw the thing out the window as it still wasn't clear how to perform a simple task on the device. Strap is too small and with a flowery pattern on it. Writing is impossible to read on watch face which bears no relation to promo pics where the lettering appears white. PC software is very basic and doesn't allow you to see how your heart rate was over time ie if you have a 30 min workout to see minute by minute what your heart rate was soing, it will just tell you 7 mins was in this zone 5 mins in that zone etc, but which 5 mins, ie whhich part of your workout do you need to go harder at or decrease effort. Not sure of the value of Coach mode for those who have planned sessions for a week, if you know you're doing tennis training every Weds night, it would be good if you could programme this in rather than the Coach mode telling you that Weds is a rest day!! Backlight is a joke, this is impossible to use at night. With such a poor manual, you have to just try out buttons and hope you find out how it works, so it's easy to bugger up data you have recorded. Oh, and Suunto tech support don't mail you back. If you want to speak to someone, you have to call Finland. Overall, very disappointed.

Functionally

Functionally, this thing is amazing and I keep discovering new things about it that keep the motivation high. I was disappointed with the physical package as it looks a little cheap and the screen scratches so easilly. The manual only scratches the surface of what this thing does which I didn't like.

My husband bought me this so it was like having a personal trainer to help me get fit. I thought it might be a bit confusing - it comes with a heart monitor strap and all looked a bit technical. Actually it is relatively straightforward and tells you how you should be training (based on your initial set up) each day. For example it tells you to train hard for a certain length of time one day and then rest the next and then train at a more comfortable pace the next and so on. It lets you know what you should do each day which wierdly makes you want to obey it! So altogether I thought it would be a bit too tekkie for me, but actually it's great and helps to motivate me. Highly recommended!
